Every 3 - 4 months an official grading is held.  Students have
to demonstrate various components of their training to a high level to achieve their grade

 Kihon:

Basic Technicques

Kata:

 A fixed sequence of block/strikes
moving in different directions

Kumite:

Sparring  (not Dragon Ninjas)

Grades/belt colours are split into
ten Kyu grades. If a student fails to achieve the required standard a
"half grade" may be quoted, or if the opposite is displayed an extra half may be awarded.

Once a student achieves 6th Kyu we recommend a minimum of two classes per week
be attended to ensure sufficient progress is made to achieve their next grade.

When a student achieves 1st Kyu the rules of grading change and
they must must have the agreement of a club instructor before they may sit their next grading.

Higher Dan grades are more complex, the training time extends over a longer period.
